Read the beautiful love saga of Facebook CEO and his wife

She looked, he looked…They met and fell in love!
Though unlike regular love stories, these two met at a rather strange place i.e. in a queue for washroom but still as they say, love can blossom anywhere and hence their story took the flight from there only.
The date was November 14, 2003, when Mark Elliot Zuckerberg’s fraternity threw a bash, which was attended by a Boston sophomore called Priscilla Chan. It was while waiting for their turn in the bathroom that the eyes met and the hearts started beating for each other. They started dating while they were in college.
The 29-year old Massachusetts lady was so impressed by this bright Palo Alto computer programmer that she followed him wherever he went. His programming skills were unmatchable to the rest. In 2004, when he dropped studies to pursue his passion, Priscilla still stood by him.
He started his company – The Facebook, while she learnt Paediatrics at Harvard. They dated each other for 9 years.
He continued to remain engrossed in his work. She continued to study.
They lived at far off places. He was working; she was studying yet the love prospered.
They loved each other even when they were nothing and they still love each other, when they rank in World’s top 100 richest and most influential people’s league.
They grew up from mere college students to more. Mark moved to California and conquered his dream of making a social network connecting people. He came with Facebook – a more than $200 billion company today. Priscilla followed him. They moved in together.
He was so happy that he announced their live-in also on Facebook!
Authoritative and commanding like any other girl friend, she held the reins of the relationship. She demanded 100 minutes of ‘alone time’ every day from Mark – time apart from Facebook and he obliged!
Then she demanded one date night every week - he obediently fulfilled.
Though authoritative in relationship, the otherwise camera-shy Priscilla continued to live-in with Mark for some time before they got married.
Interestingly, even that also turned out to be a surprise for the rest.
On May 19, 2012, the duo planned to give a surprise to their near and dear ones. They announced that they are celebrating Priscilla’s graduation from medical studies and when almost all the 100 guests were there, they announced their wedding.
He gave her a simple Ruby ring, designed personally by him. There, in the courtyard itself, they tied the knot and vowed to remain together with each other. Soon after, they left for Italy for their honeymoon.
Now, it’s been almost 3 years, they are happily together – loving each other, living for each other and also for several philanthropic causes.
Like Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, the couple has also pledged to give away most of their wealth for charitable causes. Mark Zuckerberg, Chairman and CEO of Facebook today, receives only a one-dollar salary.  They do not have children yet but they have a pet called Beast whom they love like their kid.

How Arranged Marriages Push Our ‘Great Indian Morals’ To The Backseat

One thing that has always been held high by India like a shining trophy is its institution of arrange marriage and customs that believe in tethering two people together for life. Hinduism alone describes eight types of marriages. Among them, arrange marriage is the most popular and favored way of deciding two human’s fate in India. Our ancestors probably chose to arrange their children’s weddings with the notion that if they marry them in good families (qualities of ‘good family’ largely remain unknown till date, so it’s basically based on hunch), since good families are expected to produce good sons which are  undoubtedly supposed to make good husbands. Same goes for girls. (I think that’s enough history for us.)

While I am more than glad to be born in the land of saints and sages and had my mind fully stuffed with all the morals and Hindu beliefs at a tender age just like every other Indian Hindu, I was caught by surprise when I recently learned about the hollowness of the whole so-praised-by-west value system of ours.

The ancient logic has clearly failed to live through modern times. Recently, one of my friends got interviewed by a prospective family. While the guy was shy and probably suffered from peachy-soft-voice syndrome, apart from that he was pretty decent and didn’t really seem to care much about what was happening around (or so, my friend gathered). In India, marriage is not just about gluing two people together, but more about gluing two families together. So, parents are the ones who lay all the ground rules of marriage. His mother did. His mother was really something. Sweet old woman and a teacher by profession but extremely trained at clearly spelling what she wanted.

Here’s her requirement sheet:

1. Girl should get up at 5 and cook, since she’s a teacher and of course will be needing lunch.

2. Girl should do everything on her own, without hiring help, because she is not a fan of not-doing-thing-on-your-own. (Neither I nor my friend are sure what it means exactly.)

3. Girl should bear a son. (Her son was her third kid after two girls, so it’s more than obvious. And people wonder how we became a nation of 1.237 billion people.)

4. Girl should welcome their relatives. (Well, another bizarre thing. We are still trying to figure out what it means).

5. Girl should bring shit load of money along as bonus. (Demands were obviously disguised in words like we don’t want anything but you should give enough to feel good about. Just one question: Who exactly feels good about giving their hard-earned-money away to someone else? Now, someone should make a movie called Scumbag-Wanna-Be-Millionaire-By-Marrying).

So, basically this was an opening for son-bearing-reproductive-machine cum maid cum shortcut-to-truckloads-of-money. Phew! I am so glad she rejected the job. (Well, in case there are any takers, she doesn’t mind passing on the number.)

Since the time she narrated me the whole experience, I have been searching for those damn morals and values that we, as Indians, choke upon right from the day we are born. Where are those much-talked-about-values in this whole business of marriage? On careful analysis, you would realize that arrange marriages are anything but a mere business transaction. Yes, you read it correctly! For one, there is commodity of value involved – the groom. Two, money exchanges hand; money is showered incessantly by the bride’s family (sometimes with more than eight zeros). Hence, derived. Arrange marriages are serious business. And, there are no real ethics in business. Are there?

No one knows exactly what they are buying. The groom seller obviously is busy painting the best picture the buyer has seen. The groom is busy acting like a product not reacting to dowry or anything else (It only makes sense, since that is what stationary things do). So, mostly someone is always getting scammed in this business.

No wonder domestic violence is an epidemic in India. What more can marriages based on printed numbers bring in a relationship otherwise considered so pious by Indians? Isn’t it time to put our modern education and ancient values to use by mending the flawed institution of arrange marriages? For starters, these are few new traditions we can encourage and practice without corrupting ourshiny-invisible-morals:

1. Both sides split wedding expense in half.

2. Make the day more about bride and groom, instead of making it about uncles and aunt and their expensive gifts that leave holes in the bride’s father’s pocket.

3. Limit your guest list. For instance, chuck your neighbor’s neighbors. Just because someone else is paying for food, doesn’t mean you should invite every single person you know.

4. ‘Just Married’ car doesn’t always have to be extorted from bride’s family. No real pride in that. Its time your son bought one for himself, himself!

5. Groom’s parent should remind themselves every day, at least once, that their son did not get into a good college and took up a good job for someone else or so that someone could reimburse the cost with interest in future. Repeat more than once if needed.

This is not a write-up about lighting a torch up against dowry or arrange marriages. It is just a reminder of how we fail our value system everyday along with wise and old members of our society. It just explores the idea that maybe it’s time for us to act upon those morals that have been fed profusely and marry not based on money or requirement for maid. Try love for a change, or maybe compatibility if nothing else.

The Facts About Dreams

It’s happened to most people at least once. You have a dream. You might dismiss it or find it funny but a day or week pass by and happening before your very eyes is the exact dream you just had. Freaky stuff? Or is it just the laws of physics working itself out?
You may dismiss some of these dreams as mere coincidences but some are so accurate and improbable that you cannot help but to wonder if the true nature of time and your mind are closely coupled.
To dive deeper into the mechanics of our dreams, we looked Dr. Eric Amidi’s(a Particle Physicist and a Certified Hypnotist) fascinating overview of the Collage Theory of Time. Dr. Eric Amidi explains, physics has made great strides in explaining the nature of time measurement, but the nature of time itself remains to be quite the mystery to science.
In fact, one of the reasons that quantum mechanics and Einstein’s theory of gravity cannot be unified is that science does not yet have a firm understanding of time. So why is time so omnipresent that you can feel it everywhere you go, and yet it’s so elusive that you cannot put your finger on it and explain what it is? Could it be because it’s within you? Could it be because it has its roots in your psyche and not the world out there?

Can Our Dreams Explain Time?

According to Dr Eric Amidi, the events and happenings are only snapshots of our lives. A “collage” if you will, and in no particular order. Imagine that all the things that have happened and will happen in your life are laid out in a collage of snapshot pictures on a wall, but you can see only a small portion of this wall due to the limited capacity of your conscious mind.
In your waking life, your logical conscious mind constantly grabs these snapshots and puts them in a logical order, one after the other. This is what you perceive as being the passing of time.
However, Dr. Eric Amidi’s Collage Theory Of Time also explains that while you dream or when you’re in deep meditation you may see beyond now and into the future as your logical conscious mind shuts down. Your conscious mind is no longer able to categorise the events of your life into a logical order.
“Conscious mind out of the way, you get a chance to have a glimpse at the events of your life that would be considered as your future in your waking life…” – Dr. Eric Amidi.
Therefore, when you relax and shut down your logical mind, you may be able to open your mind to a sense of what’s to come and get a glimpse of the whole collage on the wall. The deeper the relaxation, the less present your conscious mind is, therefore the less able it is to put the events of your life in time order; allowing you to get a broader glimpse of the collage of events in your life, some from your future. Pretty cool, right?
Definitely an interesting take on why some of our dreams come true, and what are consciousness and subconsciousness mind is capable of.

Love is just love, it can never explained.
LOVE IS LIKE A WIND,WE CAN'T SEE IT. BUT WE CAN FEEL IT:)
I will be yours, you will be mine and together we will be one love
Everybody knows how to love, but few people know how to stay in love with one person forever.
Thinking of you is easy, I do it every day. Missing you is the heartache that never goes away.
This is going to sound crazy, but…from the moment I first set eyes on you I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you.

If you ever ask me how many times you’ve crossed my mind, I would say once. Because you came, and never left.
Love is of all passions the strongest, for it attacks simultaneously the head, the heart and the senses.
I fell in love because of your words, and I got hurt because of them too!
We spend too much time looking for the perfect person to love instead of perfecting the love we give!
Even when you’re gone, you’re only one that I still want in my arms. You’re the only one I think of all day long.
No matter what has happened. No matter what you’ve done. No matter what you will do. I will always love you. I swear it.
